During that time I never actually stopped making stuff though. I continued scanning in my art journal experiments and flea market finds and just made kits for me.

I was perfectly content to go on designing in my own little bubble world until a day in February when, for the first time, I posted a layout in a public gallery that featured one of my secret creations. It was this page here:

I was surprised to get several excited comments and messages from people asking where they could get that paper . . . and everything just snowballed from there. The next thing I knew I was getting ready to open up shop again as a guest for April at the Lilypad!

It is no longer for sale so I can’t link you up but it’s a workshop where Maggie Holmes guides us through altering a vintage book using scrap supplies and the theme of “Happy Little Moments”

I decided to do mine with old family photos mixed with quotes and call it “Moments in Time”. I didn’t purchase the class kit so I put together my own from my stash:

Lots of vintage inspired October Afternoon and Crate Paper stuff.

I finally had the chance to photograph my first spread in the book. This is my mom and her brother circa 1952-ish.

I partially covered the text with a light pink/white striped washi tape, and then did a light coating of gesso over it all. I used Modge Podge to get the lace down.

I love how it turned out! Especially the stitching. I never would have been brave enough to run a book through my sewing machine if it weren’t for all the stitching in the gorgeous samples from this class. It’s kind of scary when you get close to the middle. These vintage books are obviously not very strong but so far the spine is hanging tough

I’ve been lurking around at Studio Calico for a few months now. Someone had mentioned it in a thread at the-Lilypad and after one look I was hooked!

I took the plunge and subscribed to the kit club starting with the March kit. It arrived on Thursday and I’m SO excited to start playing with it! In fact I may go do that right now . . .

I thought I’d play catch up and do one big post of all my February/March layouts to date.

Seriously – time is flying these days. I don’t know about you but I can’t believe it’s already March!

The last several weeks have been a mess and both Project Life and this blog have suffered for it. *sigh*

Here’s week 6, where I experimented with the 6×6 page protector. I love my little layouts but the Royal Jubilee one is still missing journaling, and the last layout still isn’t done.

Week 7 included Valentine’s day, and since nothing else exciting happened that week I just made a whole spread out of love day.

And since I know you’re wondering – yes, that is indeed a bouquet of roses in a Pringles can. Apparently we are short on vases around here.

For weeks 8 & 9 . . . . I got nothing. It finally happened. I had no desire to do PL at all! We got sick, life got busy, I made a huge decision to take on a project that is now taking over my entire creative time . . . so yeah. Here’s what weeks 8 and 9 look like in my album:

I do have a few photos from these weeks, and as you can see I did write a few thoughts and stories down. So the plan is to come back some day and finish this spread.

I’m not sure if I’m ready to get back into it this week. My PL may have to take on a simpler form while I work on these other projects for a little while . . . we shall see . . .

So I decided to do Week 5 on one side only. I did end up doing something out of the ordinary this week which probably would have helped me fill out both pages of the spread but I was happy with just putting those additional photos in a couple of digital layouts to add as inserts instead.

I love the flexibility of being able to scale this project up or down depending on my needs!

Do you see that old scrapbook? It makes me simultaneously laugh and cringe to look at it lol!  It’s crazy how different my scrapbooks look now after 7 years.

I’m nervous about this project because I fear I’ll never get it done but I’ve got SO many photos (see box) and ephemera (see blue bin) from this trip that need to be put somewhere safe. I went to Europe in 2005 and spent a week in London, a week in Paris and a week in Rome. The idea was to make a book for each week but I never got past the middle of Paris week. I figured the Project Life pockets would be perfect for housing all that ephemera and would make it easier for me to plan and execute layouts. I don’t know where I’ll find the time but it’s officially on my list of things to accomplish this year.

Phew! And now I’m all caught up  with PL
